Green is better than ever!
For the past few decades, data center facilities have accounted for much of the world energy consumption. This trend is continuing to rise as more businesses are introducing their processes into the IT world and more businesses are seeking facilities outside of their office environment to host at.
ServOnDemand, LLC pledges to reduce the consumption of resources and its waste by products as much as possible by implementing several very simple steps:
Efficient Cabinet Placement and Air Flow Design:
Cabinet placement is critical to an efficient data center operation. All of our cabinets are positioned in the best ideal location for the maximum cooling efficiency and are placed to the industry standard hot isle/cold isle containment. Furthermore, our HVAC systems are fully modular and scalable, leaving out any unused systems.
HVAC Design:
Our facility is unlike any other. We do not choose a single cooling method. Our approach is simple, to maximize efficiency during the cold Michigan weathers but to also overcome efficiency issues during the warm summer days. We utilize a dual cooling medium approach using both Glycol cooling and Air cooling. With this unique configurations in addition to our HVAC economizers, we are able to utilize the outside cold winter air for free cooling. During the hot summers, where economizers do not function and where glycol becomes inefficient, we assist our cooling needs with air cooled units. This not only improves our efficiency greatly, but also adds another layer of redundancy in our infrastructure.
Lighting:
Our facility uses low consumption lighting and the placement of all fixtures is coordinated to provide the most light with the smallest foot print. All lights are kept off as much as possible to preserve heat and power consumption.
High Density/Efficiency Computing (80 PLUS):
Our dedicated server systems are purchased based on efficiency and density. We focus strongly on the 80 PLUS certification which certifies server power efficiency at 80% or better. High density computing solutions, such as our IBM and DELL blade server solutions, provides us with a higher space to power efficiency. Increasing our efficiency reduces our operating costs. Reducing our operating costs = more savings for our clients and a great value for the environment.
